    4. Cart calculates totals, adds VAT & delivery charges if applicable
    5. Checkout able to process payment or order - see Item 1b above

      • Merchant Account

    2. Includes PayPal, WorldPay, Sage, etc
    3. Gateway checks validity of card used instantly 24/7
    4. Instant authorisation enables immediate order processing
    5. Swift order processing results in happy satisfied customers
    6. Secure server not needed to process credit cards
    7. But may be needed if login account facilities provided
    8. Arguably the best solution for ecommerce site owners
  5. Merchant Accounts
    1. Site owner requires merchant account with leading bank
    2. Authorised to process credit cards when customer not present
    3. Site owner responsible for checking validity of card used
    4. Manual processing may result to delays in processing orders
    5. Order delays may lead to dissatisfied customers
    6. Secure server required to accept credit card details
