The FAQ You Requested...
What is Web Forwarding and how can I use it?
Web Forwarding is similar to Email Forwarding, as it provides a facility for you to use an existing website with a new Domain Name that is "parked" but not formally hosted. For example, if you already have a website at www.my-product-name.co.uk and then purchased the unhyphenated version of the name - www.myproductname.co.uk - you could use Web Forwarding to direct traffic from your "parked" but non-existent www.myproductname.co.uk website to the website that physically exists - www.my-product-name.co.uk. Thus you can create the illusion that the unhyphenated www.myproductname.co.uk website exists when in fact it doesn't exist in reality.
(Note that the websites named above do not physically exist and are used for illustration purposes only, but the domain names do actually exist and all have been web forwarded to a WebLink4u holding page.)
For real world examples, several different WebLink4u domains have been forwarded to the main www.weblink4u.co.uk website, including weblink4u.biz, weblink4u.org.uk, weblink4u.eu, etc. Remember to put www. in front of the domain names if you want to test this in your browser.
This facility can be very beneficial for a business that registers its Domain Name with as many of the different domain-extensions as possible, eg, co.uk, com, biz, etc. Instead of creating a multitude of similar sites to cover all the domain-extensions owned and then getting each site individually hosted, it is far simpler, cheaper and less trauma in terms of site maintenance to create just one site, and use Web Forwarding to direct all the other Domain Names to the single site.
